The 800 D4 Series sets the highest standard of quality, against which all high-end speakers will be judged for years to come. These speakers are equipped with the latest technologies developed in the company's research center over the six years since the previous generation was released.
Each new model in the 800 D4 Series incorporates hundreds of improvements to individual components, along with several entirely new technologies. This has resulted in speakers with the clearest, most detailed, and most natural sound ever produced by Bowers & Wilkins.
One key innovation is the revolutionary Biomimetic Suspension technology for midrange drivers. This technology redefines the basic principles of traditional drivers. By modeling the design after the structure of bird wings, this technology eliminates unpredictable noise caused by the movement of the fabric suspension, resulting in unprecedented clarity and realism in the mid-frequency range.
Each model in the new series also features an enhanced version of the legendary tweeter-on-top design, with an extended Nautilus loading tube for even freer and more open high frequencies. The extremely rigid enclosure effectively suppresses unwanted resonances, especially when combined with the new dual-point decoupling system that mechanically isolates it from the rest of the speaker.
The 800 Diamond Series undergoes a deep modernization of the enclosure, with improved Matrix stiffening ribs and additional aluminum reinforcements in critical load-bearing areas. Inside the HTM81 D4 is a rigid aluminum enclosure designed to optimize the sound quality of the midrange driver, providing a controlled environment for better sound quality and preventing air leakage.
A range of key Bowers & Wilkins technologies, introduced in previous generations of the series 800, are still used in the HTM81 D4. These include the legendary diamond dome tweeter, Continuum material, FST surround in the midrange drivers, Aerofoil bass drivers, and the Flowport bass reflex port.
The Bowers & Wilkins HTM81 D4 is a 3-way speaker system equipped with a 25mm diamond dome tweeter, 130mm Continuum FST midrange driver, and two 200mm Aerofoil bass drivers.
