Active Subwoofer Bowers & Wilkins ASW608

The Bowers & Wilkins ASW608 active subwoofer is the entry-level model in the sixth B&W lineup, but it comes with serious features. The unit is equipped with a 200mm low-frequency driver with a diaphragm made of kevlar, paper, and resin. This combination allows for a lightweight, rigid diaphragm resistant to bending and virtually free of resonances. The flexible and durable suspension ensures the necessary piston movement of the diaphragm for high-quality bass reproduction.

The subwoofer is housed in a sealed enclosure with a classic design, featuring the bass driver on the front panel. Deep internal damping of the enclosure reduces parasitic coloration of sound at high volumes. The D-class amplifier of the subwoofer delivers 200W of output power.

On the back panel of the B&W ASW608, there are controls for input signal level (separate for line and speaker inputs), input filter cutoff frequency control, and a switch to disable it - for example, when connecting the subwoofer to the receiver's LFE output. There are also switches for activating bass extension schemes (modes A, B, C) and equalization, changing the signal's absolute phase, and enabling auto-start mode when a signal is present at the input. Additionally, there are line and speaker inputs, as well as a trigger control input.

With more flexible sound character control options than many similar models, the B&W ASW608 can be precisely tuned to work with various speakers. Detailed configuration of additional switches is described in the unit's manual, depending on the different ways it can be used, so setting up the B&W ASW608 will be effortless.

The subwoofer delivers full, deep, and well-focused bass, and since it is housed in a sealed enclosure, it can be placed near the room's wall without issues.
