The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series continues the company's policy of integrating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship line. Through an extensive three-year research program, nearly every element of the new series has been transformed, from cabinet construction, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical enhancements.
Beautiful Design, Premium Details
For the first time in the 700 Series, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced, forming a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the influence of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing the diffraction effect of sound on the speaker cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears", allowing you to focus solely on the music rather than cabinet resonances.
The new cabinet shapes are not only sleeker than before but are also available in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Enhanced Drivers, New Acoustic Forms
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a massive solid housing in four models of the new 700 Series, accounting for half of the entire lineup. The tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonant frequency of 47 kHz, combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
In the 705 S3 model, Bowers & Wilkins patented technologies for midrange drivers are implemented, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange unit, an aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, Fixed Suspension Technology (FST) diaphragm suspension, and the famous Continuum material, delivering astonishing clarity in midrange sound.
The 705 S3 has also been upgraded with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. Additionally, the driver diaphragm features the latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins, based on a composite "sandwich" of materials with a precisely shaped variable profile aimed at delivering cleaner, low-distortion bass.
Sound Quality Optimization
To provide these drivers with the best platform for success, the new 700 Series introduces upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals pass through meticulously upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sinks for cooling the crossover have also been improved to achieve even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with larger diameter upgraded Flowport phase inverter ports, offering greater throughput capacity for a more expansive and spatial sound. The 705 S3 comes with extra-durable M6 spikes.
