The Borresen X6 is the largest model in the X series, and this speaker stands in a league of its own. It is not just a new entry-level speaker in the Borresen universe, as the X6 also represents a true revolution in quality and performance in its price range.
With the Borresen X6, you get sonic experiences that set entirely new standards. Cutting-edge technologies and components provide exceptional performance and accuracy. The carbon membrane and ribbon tweeter deliver impressive clarity and music detail. The copper motor caps ensure precise and controlled reproduction of low frequencies that will impress even the most demanding audiophiles.
Technologies and Components
The Borresen X series speakers are not just a new entry-level in the Borresen universe, but also a real revolution in quality and performance in their price range. These speakers are based on all the knowledge accumulated during the creation of the M, 0, and Z series. In this Borresen X series speaker system, you will find components from these exclusive series - for example, the brand new Spread-tow carbon membrane, the highly acclaimed Borresen ribbon tweeter, and the use of copper caps in the driver's magnetic system.
X Series Membrane - low/mid frequencies
This membrane was designed to achieve maximum rigidity with minimal noise levels. The technological requirements for this superior class membrane necessitated the design, development, and assembly of all components in-house.
The X6 membrane consists of three layers laminated into one: two layers of carbon fiber with a layer of aramid honeycomb in between.
The combination of these materials gives the membrane unique properties. The widespread carbon fiber was developed to provide optimal membrane stiffness. This unique feature of the membrane allows reducing vibration levels and resonances that interfere with sound to an unprecedented level. The aramid honeycombs also have the best stiffness-to-weight ratio in the vertical direction. The membrane's flat response to resonances allowed the creation of a very transparent speaker system with a reduced size of the magnetic motor for cost optimization.
X Series Magnetic System - low/mid frequencies
In the X6 speaker's magnetic motor system, we use double copper caps on pole pieces to achieve high flux and low inductance. The use of copper caps was borrowed from Borresen's Z series. Copper reacts to flux changes - the better the counteraction of these copper rings, the flatter the inductance curve and the lower the electromagnetic resonance. Additionally, lower inductance means fewer jumps on the impedance curve. Both lead to lower amplifier load. To ensure high efficiency, the X3 has two pole pieces. This leads to some flux loss, reducing efficiency, but it is compensated by a larger magnet.
X Series Tweeters
The tweeter selected for Borresen X6 has the same construction as in all other Borresen speaker series. However, the magnet and iron mass have been reduced. This became possible thanks to the extremely high efficiency of the original tweeter design. As a result, the efficiency only slightly decreased from exceptional 94 dB to 88 dB, but it is still an amazing efficiency for a tweeter.
The tweeter operates in the range of 2.5 kHz and above. The moving mass is extremely small - 0.01 grams. The fully concealed tweeter can operate at an impressive speed. The high durability of this tweeter allows it to withstand very high transient processes without causing dull dips.
X Series Crossover
Borresen X6 is equipped with a parallel crossover built from the same high-quality components as in the Z series. This makes the crossover very mechanically stable and minimizes its self-resonance.
X Series Enclosure
The surface of the new X6 acoustic system enclosure is covered with elegant black or white grand piano lacquer and reinforced with optical carbon fiber inserts. The enclosure itself is made of a wood composite material with reinforced braces, which eliminates sound distortions. The material used for the enclosure also reduces mechanical impacts, especially hysteresis. The acoustic result is evident. The Borresen X6 enclosure has six bass reflex ports. The tweeter compensates for the resulting air pressure. The bass section consists of tuned ports calibrated for musically significant frequencies.
