Black Sabbath is a British band, considered the progenitor of the heavy metal musical style and having a significant influence on the development of rock music. The band was formed in the UK in 1969.
The original line-up of the band included vocalist John "Ozzy" Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Terry "Geezer" Butler and drummer Bill Ward. The band's albums went platinum in the US and repeatedly entered the top ten in the UK charts.
