Description

History of Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990 headphones:

The legendary DT 770/880/990 series dates back to 1981 when the DT 880 model was released - the first dynamic headphones with electrostatic-like characteristics. Following this, the DT 770 and 990 models were introduced in 1985, completing the series and providing the market with maximum flexibility and the choice of closed-back (DT 770), semi-open (DT 880), and open-back (DT 990) headphones.

Features:

  • Studio headphones with excellent response across the frequency range
  • Bass Reflex technology for a more spacious and resonant bass sound
  • Impedance of 250 Ohms
  • Comfortable fit due to adjustable padded headband and soft velour earpads
  • Robust spring steel headband
  • One of the most reliable professional headphones, easily serviceable as all parts are replaceable
  • Twisted single-sided cable made from oxygen-free copper (99.999%) with a gold-plated 3.5mm jack connector

The initial versions of the headphones had a plastic headband, which was sturdy but not as durable as needed. In the early 1990s, the first professional models (PRO) were introduced, featuring a headband made of spring steel, aluminum forks, and an extremely reliable ABS plastic housing. Subsequently, this Beyerdynamic line conquered the world. Today, DT 770/880/990 model headphones can be found everywhere - in recording studios, live broadcasts, as well as in the homes of music lovers and audiophiles.

The closed-back dynamic headphones Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO were developed taking into account the requirements and desires of professional sound engineers and performers. It is no wonder that this model has been a standard in the professional audio industry for over 20 years! The headband of the DT 770 PRO model is specially designed for studio or stage work, providing a secure fit. At the same time, thanks to the velour earpads and lightweight construction, working with DT 770 PRO headphones will be comfortable for extended periods of time.

DT 770 PRO headphones are renowned for their excellent noise isolation, which is also crucial when working with highly sensitive microphones. The low-mass voice coil, coupled with the DT 770 PRO diaphragm, produces sound that can only be compared to more expensive electrostatic headphones. Additionally, the headphones utilize Bass Reflex technology - small openings allow the diaphragm to "breathe", resulting in better reproduction of low and high frequencies (as the diaphragm can move much more freely).

A small amount of isolation from surrounding noise is sacrificed, but the already excellent sound of DT 770 PRO headphones becomes even better as a result! In combination with a carefully tuned frequency response, this model offers natural and balanced sound reproduction, available in several impedance options (32/80/250 Ohms). These headphones excel with any music style or type of musical recordings. Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO headphones, handcrafted in Germany, are an excellent choice for professionals and anyone who appreciates high quality and pristine, globally recognized sound.

Package includes:

  • Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO / 250 Ohms headphones
  • 3.5mm to 6.3mm jack adapter.

Nonlinear distortion level (NDL), %

An indicator that characterizes the degree of difference between the waveform and the sinusoidal one. It is equal to ratio of the sum of the higher signal harmonics powers to the power of its first harmonic

Headphone type

Over-Ear (cover the ear completely), on-ear (pressed against the ear), in-ear (inserted into the ear canal) or earbuds (inserted into the auricle, but not inserted into the ear canal).

The lowest frequency, Hz
5
The highest frequency, kHz

The upper limit of the frequencies reproduced by the device. The human ear hears the standard frequency range: 20 Hz – 20000 Hz.

Glossary of terms
35
Impedance, Ohms

No higher than 32 Ohms for smartphone headphones. When using a good player or amplifier, it can be up to 100 Ohms. For stationary models you should coordinate the impedance with the amplifier power

Glossary of terms
250
Headphone sensitivity, dB

More sensitive headphones will play louder than headphones with less sensitivity (with the same signal level and resistance)

Glossary of terms

Driver type

Most of the headphones are dynamic but there are electrostatic, isodynamic, etc.

Glossary of terms
dynamic

Dynamic drivers use a circuit with a fixed magnetic system, in the gap of which a movable sound coil connected to a diffuser is placed.

Словарь терминов
Type of acoustic design

Open (with no insulation) or closed (passive noise insulation) or semi-open (intermediate version). Open headphones sound more airy and provide a wide stage, closed ones provide noise isolation and amplify low frequencies.

Glossary of terms
close
Cable length, m

The length should allow you to lay the cable with a small margin. The longer the cable, the more impact it can have on the sound.
