The first generation of studio headphones already encapsulated everything that beyerdynamic represents: superior sound, optimal wearing comfort, and exemplary German craftsmanship. The second generation includes various enhancements and is the perfect choice for modern music production.
Enhanced Sound
The DT 1990 PRO MKII, with its open-back design, delivers natural, spacious sound ideal for professional mixing, mastering, and editing. These benchmark headphones impress with precise and clear bass reproduction for open-back headphones.
Compared to the previous model, the highs at around 8 kHz have been slightly reduced. However, detailed highs at 10 kHz, characteristic of the previous model, have been retained to help prevent incorrect decisions when choosing. This approach also prevents ear fatigue during prolonged studio sessions. With three-dimensional sound reproduction, instruments and vocals are easily recognizable.
"When creating the DT 1990 PRO MKII, we aimed for a very balanced sound," explains chief acoustic engineer Ante Mihal. "Today's productions often utilize very complex high frequencies. Therefore, the DT 1990 PRO MKII now reproduces high frequencies slightly smoother than its bolder predecessor," Mihal adds.
"In vocal studios and when recording instruments, it is especially important for the artist to feel comfortable," stresses product manager Kevin Nitsh. "This often intangible aspect can turn a good track into an outstanding one," Nitsh continues. "Thus, the DT 1990 PRO MKII delivers pleasant sound while remaining detailed and precise."
The headphones, equipped with 30 Ohm impedance, provide studio-grade sound across various devices.
Updated TESLA.45 Driver
The driving force behind the exceptional sound quality is the TESLA.45 driver, recently developed and manufactured in Heilbronn. Thanks to an optimized neodymium magnet in the air gap of the magnetic system, a magnetic flux density of over one tesla is achieved. Therefore, the TESLA.45 driver can be characterized as particularly powerful. With a diaphragm made of high-quality PEEK polymer, precise low-frequency reproduction is ensured. The exquisite high-frequency range is achieved through a reduced-weight sound coil made of aluminum-coated copper wire. To ensure consistent quality, the drivers are measured multiple times at various stages of production.
Designed for Prolonged Studio Work
The headphones are designed for extended use in the studio. The mechanical construction features a durable steel spring headband that has been tested for decades. Velour ear pads prevent overheating. The headband is made of soft memory foam and durable leatherette. A new depressed area near the head's crown helps prevent potentially sensitive pain points. When needed, both the headband and ear pads can be replaced. The model is hand-crafted at the company's factory in Heilbronn.
Perform Complex Work at a Professional Level
The headphones come with two different sets of ear pads that meet the demands of modern music production. The "Producing Velour" ear pads included in the standard DT 1990 PRO MKII package provide three-dimensional sound reproduction with slight bass enhancement.
Meanwhile, the "Mixing & Mastering Velour" ear pads suitable for mixing and mastering provide analytical sound. The model comes with a detachable 3-meter cable and a coiled 5-meter cable, each equipped with a locking 3-pin mini-XLR connector. The headphones are securely stored in a high-quality hard case.
Package includes:
- Headphones
- 3-meter cable
- 5-meter coiled cable
- 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter
- Hard case
- Manual
