The Austrian Audio OD5 is an active dynamic microphone equipped with a capsule and sound system that differ from previous OD505 models and, furthermore, lacks the dual diaphragm design that prevents sound popping. The advantages of active sound include significant gain (which reduces noise levels and signal loss), as well as onboard high-pass filter and pad; this is particularly useful for taming booming drums and guitars on stage before the signal reaches the mixing console.
