The Austrian Audio OC818 Dual Set Plus is a matched pair of microphones. Developed by a team of former AKG employees, this set of large-diaphragm condenser microphones with multiple patterns includes two studio-quality OC818 large-diaphragm condenser microphones, two traditional microphone clamps, two windshields to reduce breath and air noise, as well as a protective carrying case. Ideal for stereo recording of solo instruments, drum kits, and vocal ensembles, these microphones provide detailed sound capture and extensive sound customization for producers and engineers recording in personal and commercial recording studios.

The handcrafted 1-inch capsule features two polymer membranes with gold plating, allowing for various polar patterns. The 5-position switch lets you set the OC818 to figure 8, hypercardioid, cardioid, omnidirectional, or wide cardioid. Each diaphragm is connected to a separate output for dual-channel recording, enabling you to create individual pickup patterns in five frequency ranges using the PolarDesigner open-source module, or to create customizable stereo images with the open-source StereoCreator module.
As an alternative, an additional output can be connected to the optional OCR 8 Bluetooth module to enable convenient wireless control and selection of 255 pickup patterns using the free PolarPilot app for iOS / Android. Front panel switches provide easy access to pad and volume level settings. Set the pad value to -10 or -20 dB to avoid distortion when recording loud sound sources like drums or guitar cabinets. Activate the high-pass filter at 40, 80, or 160 Hz to eliminate low-frequency interference, including rumble and proximity effects. The OC818 housing is made of a zinc-aluminum alloy for durability.
Pickup Patterns:
The 5-position pickup pattern switch allows you to select figure 8, hypercardioid, cardioid (dual cardioid mode when using the secondary output), omnidirectional, and "preset mode," which defaults to wide cardioid but can be customized using the PolarPilot app for iOS / Android and additional Bluetooth key OCR8 (required for PolarPilot control).
For stable microphone mounting, the set includes 2 metal and plastic OCH8 holders and two OCS8 anti-vibration mounts with adjustable tilt angle for precise microphone positioning. The grey acoustic foam OCW8 windshields protect capsules from moisture and dirt. 1.2-meter XLR cables come with black plastic clips. All components are housed in an aluminum case with an inner foam insert.
