The Austrian Audio OC7 is a small diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone designed for instruments.
Key features:
- Open and transparent sound
- Ideal for instruments with lively transient processes, such as percussion, drums, piano, acoustic guitar, or string instruments
- Well-protected capsule for safe use even in challenging environments
- Open Acoustics technology allows rear sound to penetrate the capsule
- 220° swivel microphone holder with patented Swivel-Joint mechanism
- Switchable low-cut filter (40 Hz and 80 Hz) and -10 dB pad
Following the release of the dynamic microphone OD5, Austrian Audio introduces the condenser model OC7, optimized for recording and transmitting sound of acoustic instruments including drums, piano, acoustic guitar, and string instruments. Like the OD5 microphone, the OC7 features a hinge mechanism for a 220-degree rotation, allowing precise alignment with the sound source. Additionally, it includes a -10 dB pad and a high-pass filter switchable to 0 Hz, 80 Hz, and 120 Hz.
The OC7 microphone from Austrian Audio features the same OCC7 capsule as the OC707, and the CC8 small diaphragm condenser, inspired by the universal AKG CK1 capsule used in numerous drum recordings for hi-hats, kick drum, and overheads. The sound of the OC7 is similar to the OC707, with an added presence peak to emphasize high frequencies. The frequency response gradually narrows in the low and mid frequencies, possibly to help the microphone blend faster into mixes and avoid unwanted noise when placed near hi-hats, kick drums, or other acoustic instruments during performances.
The OC7 microphone is built for long-term durability, with a decent weight, reliable swivel wheel and mechanism, and convenient built-in switches. The soft case provides ample protection for travel. The package includes a microphone clip for stands and a screw adaptor.
