The handcrafted 1-inch ceramic capsule features two polymer diaphragms with gold-plated coating, allowing for various polar patterns. With the 5-position switch, the OC18 can be set to figure 8, hypercardioid, cardioid, omnidirectional, or wide cardioid. Each diaphragm is connected to a separate output connector for dual-channel recording, enabling customization of directivity characteristics in five frequency ranges using the PolarDesigner plug-in module with open source code, or creating an adjustable stereo image with the StereoCreator plug-in module (also with open source code).
As an alternative, an additional output can be connected to the OCR8 Bluetooth module for convenient wireless control and selection of 255 polar patterns using the free PolarPilot app for iOS/Android. The front panel features switches for easy access to pad and volume level settings. Set the pad value to -10 or -20 dB to avoid distortion when reproducing loud sound sources such as drums or guitar cabinets. Activate the high-pass filter at 40, 80, or 160 Hz to eliminate low-frequency noise, including rumble and proximity effects. The OC18 housing is made of a zinc-aluminum alloy for durability and strength.
Polar Pattern Selection:
- 5-position polar pattern switch for figure 8, hypercardioid, cardioid (dual cardioid mode with secondary output), omnidirectional, and "default mode" (by default wide cardioid, but customizable through the free PolarPilot app for iOS/Android and additional Bluetooth key OCR8 for PolarPilot control).
For stable microphone mounting, the set includes 2 OCH8 holders made of metal and plastic, as well as two OCS8 shock mounts. The mounts have adjustable tilt angles for precise microphone positioning. The gray acoustic foam OCW8 windscreens protect capsules from moisture and debris. The 1.2-meter adapter cables come with black plastic clips for organization. All components are packed in an aluminum case with an inner foam insert.
