What can I use the OC16 for?
The OC16 is an extremely versatile microphone, as befits large diaphragm condenser microphones. It can be used on a wide range of instruments: from drums to electric and acoustic guitars, piano, brass and string instruments, and vocals.
What is "Open Acoustics" technology?
Thanks to "Open Acoustics" technology, sound from the rear can also penetrate the capsule, leading to an extremely precise cardioid characteristic. This "linear cardioid" means that not only does sound coming from the front, but also from the rear or sides, sound good and without distortion. This means that even sometimes unavoidable crosstalk from other instruments sounds good.
Only for professional studios?
The OC16 also excels at its task behind the desk: recording podcasts, live broadcasts, dubbing video content, or even online conferences - all of this is now reproduced with the best clarity and speech quality. The very precise cardioid polar pattern helps effectively eliminate background noise, such as computer fan noise.
In addition, there is a switchable low-cut and high-cut filter at 40 Hz and 160 Hz. The first reduces mechanical noise, and the second attenuates the low-frequency range to counteract the "proximity effect" or remove excess bass. The combination of a flat body design and lightweight allows the microphone to be used and adjusted in hard-to-reach places.
Included in the package, the flexible spider shock mount provides additional protection against handling and vibration noise, making the microphone suitable for podcasting, streaming, and voice-overs. Phantom power of 48V through an XLR connector is required for the condenser microphone.
