Description

The AK ZERO2 is a professional headphone created using advanced technologies based on the experience gained from developing the AK ZERO1. The precise crossover and acoustic chamber perfectly harmonize four different drivers equipped in the AK ZERO2.

Features:

  • Four types of drivers
  • Efficient crossover
  • Acoustic chamber made with 3D printing technology
  • Metal housing processed with CNC machining
  • Oxygen-free copper cable with pure silver coating
  • Made in Japan

Improved construction and precise crossover

The AK ZERO2 is a "Quad-brid" headphone with a central array of drivers and a finely-tuned crossover with low noise levels. Four different types of drivers, including armature, planar, and dynamic drivers, as well as a 10mm dynamic driver with a piezoelectric emitter, create perfect synergy.

A new perspective on sound from Astell&Kern

The Micro Rectangular Planar Dynamic Driver ensures clear and dynamic high-frequency sound. The company has managed to fit a full-sized planar radiator into the compact housing of the in-ear headphones. Engineers chose a lightweight yet durable planar membrane and used a trembler with a thin metallic diaphragm and polymer film to create realistic high frequencies.

Dual Custom BA Drivers for precise tuning

The perfectly balanced and rich sound is made possible by the Coil Parameter Dual Custom BA Driver, a specially designed driver. The block consists of a total of four drivers: two drivers that provide ultra-low distortion for transparent vocal sound at low and mid-frequencies, and two drivers that provide perfectly balanced saturated sound, uniquely tuned to harmonize each frequency range.

10mm dynamic driver with piezoelectric emitter

The driver handles low and high frequencies, delivering deep bass and clear high-frequency sound. Various carefully designed emitters create rich Hi-Fi sound. The 10mm dynamic driver used in the AK ZERO2 is manufactured using a fully automated process, allowing it to reproduce rich and deep low frequencies. An additional piezoelectric emitter works in tandem with the dynamic driver, acting as a super tweeter that announces its presence in the ultra-high-frequency range.

Low noise level crossover

The ultra-precise crossover ensures the perfect balance between six drivers with different sound characteristics, maximizing the use of each one and creating a balanced and harmonious sound.

3D printing

Each emitter is optimally placed in an acoustic chamber created using advanced 3D printing technology. This design eliminates unnecessary driver movement and resonance, ensuring constant stable performance.

Stylish housing

The housing is made using advanced aluminum processing technology from Astell&Kern, limiting resonance to create stable high-quality sound.

Oxygen-free copper cable with silver coating

The oxygen-free copper cable, coated with pure silver, is designed to maximize the performance of the AK ZERO2. It is made with highest quality materials and adds aesthetic appeal with aluminum connectors. The MMCX connectors provide reliable connection and durability.

Made in Japan

Each AK ZERO2 headphone is assembled by experienced professional technicians and produced using state-of-the-art equipment in Japan, offering the highest quality through strictly controlled processes.

Design

The AK ZERO2 is a bold step forward compared to the AK ZERO1, setting a new standard for sound quality. The hexagonal shape with a diagonal cut makes a strong impression. The design of the AK ZERO2 is specifically crafted to naturally fit your ears and allow for comfortable enjoyment of music. The colorful shapes change depending on the lighting, offering completely new impressions alongside unparalleled sound.

Characteristics

Characteristics

Earpads material

The material of earpads affects both your comfort and the sound. It can be leather, eco-leather, velour, fabric/microfiber and foam rubber.

Glossary of terms
silicone
Headphone type

Over-Ear (cover the ear completely), on-ear (pressed against the ear), in-ear (inserted into the ear canal) or earbuds (inserted into the auricle, but not inserted into the ear canal).

Glossary of terms
wired
Kind of headphones
in-ear

A type of headphones that are inserted into the ear canal and can provide both partial and complete noise isolation.

Словарь терминов
Balanced cable

A cable for a balanced (symmetrical) connection allows you to neutralize the negative impact of cable length on signal transmission, and also has a beneficial effect on the final sound.

Glossary of terms
yes
Cable length, m

The length should allow you to lay the cable with a small margin. The longer the cable, the more impact it can have on the sound.

Glossary of terms
1.2
Case included
yes
Color
Color shade
grey
Connector shape
L-shaped
Connectors
3.5mm jack, 4.4mm jack, MMCX
Detachable cable

The opportunity to disconnect the standard headphone cable makes it possible to experiment with different wires.

Glossary of terms
yes
Driver type

Most of the headphones are dynamic but there are electrostatic, isodynamic, etc.

Glossary of terms
hybrid

A combination of different types of drivers.

Словарь терминов
Headphone sensitivity, dB

More sensitive headphones will play louder than headphones with less sensitivity (with the same signal level and resistance)

Glossary of terms
105
Headset type
stereo
Impedance, Ohms

No higher than 32 Ohms for smartphone headphones. When using a good player or amplifier, it can be up to 100 Ohms. For stationary models you should coordinate the impedance with the amplifier power

Glossary of terms
5
Material
aluminum
Membrane diameter, mm

The size of the driver membrane

Glossary of terms
10
Number of drivers

The number of drivers in each headphone. However, quantity does not equal quality. Driver coordination, their configuration, correct crossover, sound bores affects the sound

Glossary of terms
6
The highest frequency, kHz

The upper limit of the frequencies reproduced by the device. The human ear hears the standard frequency range: 20 Hz – 20000 Hz.

Glossary of terms
30
The lowest frequency, Hz
20
Type of acoustic design

Open (with no insulation) or closed (passive noise insulation) or semi-open (intermediate version). Open headphones sound more airy and provide a wide stage, closed ones provide noise isolation and amplify low frequencies.
