Amphion Argon7LS Floorstanding Speakers

Amphion Argon7LS is a floorstanding front speaker in the Amphion Argon family of high-quality home audio systems. These speakers are primarily designed for music listening in tandem with a stereo amplifier, but they can also excel as front speakers in a home theater setup. With a frequency response down to 28 Hz, these speakers will fit perfectly in any room or living space without the need for a subwoofer.

Features:

  • Two-way speaker system with 2 passive radiators
  • 25mm titanium tweeter
  • 165mm aluminum diaphragm woofer
  • Improved clarity and balance at low volume levels
  • Passive radiators instead of traditional bass reflex ports
  • Passive woofers extend the lower frequency limit

Amphion Argon7LS utilizes a proprietary crossover and two passive radiators. These floorstanding speakers have acoustic design features that have been proven in top world studios. Amphion believes that the quality of home music listening speakers should not differ from professional studio monitors where the music was created.

Amphion Argon7LS is the largest floorstanding system in the high-quality Argon family of home audio speakers. Borrowing design and technologies from the professional line of studio monitors, the Argon7LS provides extremely natural, transparent, and precise sound reproduction with deep bass. These floorstanding speakers offer exceptionally accurate wide sound dispersion, keeping the sound well-balanced even as you move around the room.

The passive radiator design in Amphion Argon7LS, also found in all Amphion studio monitors and the Argon3S and Argon3LS home audio systems, eliminates known issues associated with parasitic reflections, ensuring a more natural sound transmission and improved listener engagement with music, even at low listening volumes.

Improved Clarity and Balance at Low Volume Levels

Expanding the boundaries of acoustic design helps Amphion keep the product electrically simple. The result is not only increased resolution but also improved clarity and balance at low volume levels. This allows Amphion listeners to enjoy the speakers even when others have to resort to headphones.

5th Generation Waveguide

The crossover frequency between drivers is relatively low, at 1600 Hz. Thanks to the new 5th generation waveguide, a simple signal transmission path and seamless speaker integration provide maximum resolution and transparency, as well as easy placement and guaranteed performance in any setting and room.

Waveguides offer multiple advantages by improving driver integration and speaker performance in a room. The patented Amphion U/D/D 5th generation waveguide (uniformly directive diffraction) offers an elegant solution to speaker selection issues.

Passive Woofer Extends Lower Frequency Limit

A passive woofer is a speaker without a magnetic voice coil, and its inherent resonance determines the lower limit of reproduction.

This solution allows for a lower limit of reproduction than in a closed enclosure, but unlike a bass reflex, the passive woofer does not dampen the attack and does not produce turbulent artifacts. The woofer diaphragm is made of aluminum, ensuring high stiffness with low weight.

Using a passive radiator helps to avoid the drawbacks associated with traditional bass reflex designs. In particular, it eliminates unwanted "tail" accompanying the main signal in the form of various artifacts. According to the developers, the updated speaker design provides a more accurate and natural music perception at all volume levels, even at the lowest.

Another element borrowed from the professional lineup is the Argento Audio input terminals with large plastic cups instead of the usual gold-plated posts with wing nuts. This allows for quick connection of bananas, spades, and stripped wire without touching bare contacts or risking any shorts. Very convenient.
