Amphion Argon7LS Floorstanding Speaker

The Amphion Argon7LS is a high-quality front floorstanding speaker in the Argon Amphion family of home audio systems. These speakers are designed primarily for music listening in tandem with a stereo amplifier, but can also serve as strong front speakers in a home theater setup. They will seamlessly fit into a room or living space, and the low frequency of 28 Hz eliminates the need for a subwoofer.

Features:

  • Two-way acoustic system with 2 passive radiators
  • 25 mm titanium tweeter
  • 165 mm aluminum diaphragm woofer
  • Enhanced clarity and balance at low volume levels
  • Use of passive radiators instead of traditional bass reflex ports
  • Passive woofer extends low frequency limits

The Amphion Argon7LS features a proprietary crossover and two passive radiators. This floorstanding speaker has acoustic design features tested in the world's best studios. Amphion believes that the quality of speakers used for home music listening should not differ from professional studio monitors on which the music was created.

The largest floorstanding system in the Argon family of high-quality home audio speakers, the Amphion Argon7LS draws design and technology from the professional line of studio monitors. This approach ensures extremely natural, transparent, and accurate sound reproduction with deep bass. The Amphion Argon7LS floorstanding system provides exceptionally accurate wide soundstage, keeping the sound well-balanced even as you move around the room.

Amphion Argon7LS uses a passive radiator design that is also present in all Amphion studio monitors, as well as in home audio systems Argon3S and Argon3LS. Passive radiators eliminate known problems associated with parasitic reflections, ensuring a more natural sound transmission and providing listeners with an enhanced physical connection to the music, even at low listening volumes.

Enhanced Clarity and Balance at Low Volume Levels

Expanding the boundaries of acoustic design helps Amphion keep the product electrically simple. This results not only in increased resolution but also in enhanced clarity and balance at low volume levels. This allows Amphion listeners to enjoy the speakers even in moments when others are forced to use headphones.

5th Generation Waveguide

The crossover frequency transition between one driver and another is quite low, at 1600 Hz. Thanks to the new 5th generation waveguide, the simple path of signal transmission and seamless integration of drivers provide maximum resolution and transparency, as well as easy placement and guaranteed performance in any environment and setting.

Waveguides offer many advantages as they improve driver integration and speaker performance in a room. The patented Amphion U/D/D 5th generation waveguide (Uniformly Directive Diffusion) offers an elegant solution to speaker selection issues.

Passive Woofer Extends Low Frequency Limits

A passive woofer is a driver without a magnetic coil system whose resonance determines the lower limit of reproduction. This solution allows for a lower boundary of reproduction compared to a closed cabinet, but unlike a bass reflex port, the passive driver does not slow down the attack or create turbulent artifacts. The woofer diaphragm is made of aluminum, which is highly rigid yet lightweight.

Using a passive radiator helps avoid the drawbacks of traditional bass reflex designs. Specifically, it eliminates accompanying main signal unwanted “tail” sounds such as vent noise, puffing, and hum. According to the developers, the updated speaker design provides more accurate and natural music perception at all volume levels, down to the lowest.

Another element borrowed from the professional lineup is the Argento Audio input terminals with large plastic cups instead of traditional gold-plated binding posts with wing nuts. This allows for quick connection of bananas, spades, and stripped cables without touching bare contacts or risking a short circuit. Very convenient.

The Amphion Argon7LS floorstanding speaker is an elegant solution for the home. It will deliver exceptional listening pleasure, revealing details and nuances that you have never heard before, even in recordings you know by heart. The Amphion Argon7LS speaker system brings music into your home as intended by the artist and sound engineer; it allows the music to speak for itself without coloring it.
