    Description

The Ableton Push 3 is a USB MIDI controller that can be used not only in combination with a PC and DAW, but also as a standalone instrument. This model features MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) technology, allowing for effects and processing on individual notes within chords, as well as combining multiple triads or articulations on a single pad, depending on the pressure applied. The controller has 64 pads and boasts a new rotary switch for quick access to all the new features.

    Features:

    • Built-in audio interface for recording external sound sources
    • Gate and CV signals for modular equipment connection
    • USB hub
    • Effects presets transmitted between the device and DAW via WiFi or USB
    • Built-in Wi-Fi
    • 64 pressure-sensitive pads

The Ableton Push 3 features 64 MPE-supported pads that can detect finger pressure, as well as movements across their surface horizontally and vertically, enabling not only dynamic note generation but also the reproduction of sound extraction methods such as slides and bends. MPE technology also allows for applying effects and processing to individual notes in chords, attaching multiple triads or articulations to a single pad, extracted with different pressure.

For data exchange, the controller is equipped with Wi-Fi: pairing the device with a computer running Ableton Live DAW happens automatically when connected to the same network. In case wireless connection is not possible, the controller can be connected to the computer via wire.

    Built-in Audio Interface

Connect external instruments, synthesizers, and effects to the built-in Push audio interface for direct recording into your Push library or Ableton Live. You can also send gate and CV signals to your modular equipment for combined Eurorack/Push customization or use Push with MIDI equipment of corresponding class.

The built-in audio interface features two inputs, switchable between balanced and unbalanced, two balanced outputs, and a headphone jack.

Expand the device to 8 inputs/outputs by adding microphone preamps, additional instruments and effects, as well as numerous connections to modular equipment.

    Real or Imaginary Drums

Each pad has multiple articulations and timbres of percussion elements depending on where and how they interact with the pad. Finger drumming with tonal variations similar to the natural sound of drums, regardless of playing on a real or electronic drum set. Or reproduce various percussion articulations on the pad - hits and rolls, open and closed hi-hats, sticks and brushes.

    Filters and Effects

Add your own touch to your playing by adding tremolo or wow-wow only to some chord notes. Filter sounds with fingers. Create your own instrumental hybrids and smoothly transition from one sound to another.

    Expressive Sound Collection

Take advantage of the unique sound library designed to fully utilize the expressive movements of the Push keyboard. Work with polyphonic acoustic instruments and ensembles, tactile control over all types of synthesized sounds, and create variable choral clouds using the exclusive Expressive Choir Pack from Spitfire Audio.

    Weight Matters

The device is as tough as a tank. Incredibly durable with a large metal heat sink at the bottom, which also serves as an access panel for standalone components. Therefore, it is heavy: the controller version is slightly heavier than Push 2, and the standalone device is almost a kilogram heavier. This is not surprising considering the presence of additional hardware components.

    Advanced Connectivity Options

On the back panel, there are quarter-inch jacks for headphones and the main analog output, as well as two more for inputs. Inputs can be switched on the screen between linear, instrumental, and "high" levels, with the latter adding digital amplification for placing a dynamic microphone. An interesting choice is the ADAT input/output module. In standalone mode, the device allows you to connect through ADAT to the Pro Tools interface in the studio and work in real time as a hardware device, synchronized via Ableton Link over Wi-Fi.

MIDI support is provided through a pair of 3.5mm TRS Type A ports. In addition, there is a USB port for direct connection of MIDI keyboards, controllers, and synthesizers. A hub can be used to connect up to six devices. MIDI and audio device settings can now be controlled directly from Push, both in standalone mode and controller mode. Devices connected to the USB host port can be used in any mode, although Standalone will ignore peripheral devices unrelated to MIDI, such as a mouse. Push also has CV outputs as an alternative mode for connecting foot pedals. A TRS splitter to two mini jacks is required for this (not included).
