Exceptional Design, Born from Two Exceptional Minds
The Aavik P-x88 series is the result of a unique collaboration between two renowned designers. Gryphon Audio founder, Fleming Erik Rasmussen, joined the Aavik team in 2021, bringing over 35 years of design experience. Combining his artistic vision with the innovative technical approach of Michael Berrensen, they created the P-188, P-288, and P-588 amplifiers, which not only look stunning but also deliver exceptional sound quality.
Advanced Technologies for Musical Control
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers are based on the latest version of Pascal class D amplifier technology, ensuring even faster UMAC modulation and lower noise levels. This circuit now requires less filtering and has a lower output impedance, providing greater control over connected speakers and stable performance across the musical spectrum.
Resonant Mode Power Supply
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers are equipped with a fast-acting, low-noise power supply optimized for class D amplification. Operating in resonance mode with power factor correction, it delivers smooth, clean sinusoidal power. When additional power is needed, the power supply adjusts frequency to increase specific power, providing high peak currents without distortion. This results in very low noise levels, low output impedance, and superior control over connected speakers.
3rd Generation Analog Smoothing Technology
The development of the 3rd generation Ansuz analog smoothing technology allows for the optimization of the most efficient frequencies, revealing even more detail in the sound landscape when it comes to reproducing recordings.
Tesla Coil Operation Principle
The principle involves having two coils wound in each direction - a coil and a counter coil. In other words, the "double inverted coil" - both coils carry voltage, and when the Tesla coil encounters a sharp voltage spike, a counter spike is activated to eliminate noise. As noise spikes are the result of pure voltage and carry practically no charge, the suppression level is quite high, but not 100%. Connecting more P-TC coils in parallel enhances performance. This significantly improves the perception of darkness in music. Ansuz Tesla coils are available in various types as they complement each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses.
Active Tesla Coils Effectively Suppress Noise
Active Tesla coils powered by the power source provide significantly lower resistance and therefore better noise suppression capabilities. The active version is approximately three to four times more efficient than passive Tesla coils.
Active Square Tesla Coils
Active square Tesla coils are integrated into the circuit boards - one coil is located on top, and the other on the reverse side. The operating principle is exactly the same as for active Tesla coils, providing greater noise suppression capabilities than passive Tesla coils.
Anti-Aerial Resonance Coil Technology
Prevents interference in cables. All cables and cable shields act as antennas for radiofrequency interference in the air, which is a serious problem. The passive cable Tesla coil is wound on the outer side of the cable and protects the signal from absorbing radiofrequency interference in the air. This noise is absorbed by the Tesla coil. Since there is voltage in the conductor itself, and it is fed in the opposite direction, it is used as a counteracting coil, and then the radiofrequency noise is eliminated.
High-Quality Housing
Aavik designed the housing to minimize the use of aluminum and associated mechanical resonance. Over the years, the company tested various materials and ultimately developed an innovative composite material based on natural materials that reduces mechanical impact, especially hysteresis. The resulting sound quality is clearly audible and reflects another important cornerstone in Aavik's quest for the ultimate musical experience.
