Exceptional Design Born from Two Exceptional Minds
The Aavik P-x88 series is the result of a unique collaboration between two renowned designers. Gryphon Audio founder Flemming E. Rasmussen joined the Aavik team in 2021, bringing over 35 years of design experience. Combining his artistic vision with Michael Børresen's innovative technical approach, they created the P-188, P-288, and P-588 amplifiers, which not only look stunning but also provide exceptional sound perception.
Advanced Technologies for Musical Control
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers are based on the latest version of Pascal class D amplifier technology, which offers faster UMAC modulation and lower noise levels. This scheme requires less filtering and has lower output resistance, providing greater control over connected speakers and stable performance across the musical spectrum.
Resonant Mode Power Source
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers feature a fast-acting power supply optimized for class D amplification. Operating in resonant mode with power factor correction, it delivers smooth, clean sinusoidal power. When additional power is required, the power supply adjusts the frequency to increase power density, delivering high peak currents without distortion. This results in very low noise levels, low output resistance, and excellent speaker control.
3rd Generation Analog Smoothing Technology
The 3rd generation of Ansuz analog smoothing technology was developed. This technology originated in radar where it provided a stronger signal and greater range. Active Tesla coils send pulsating signals at precise frequencies, transmitted in opposite phases, significantly amplifying the musical signal and eliminating background noise.
Tesla Coil Principle
The principle involves having two coils wound in opposite directions – a coil and a counter-coil. When a Tesla coil encounters a sharp voltage spike, a counter-spike is activated to eliminate noise. Since noise spikes are a result of pure voltage and carry minimal charge, the suppression level is quite high but not 100%. Connecting more P-TC coils in parallel increases performance, significantly enhancing musical darkness perception.
Active Tesla Coils Efficiently Suppress Noise
Active Tesla coils powered by a power source provide significantly lower resistance, resulting in better noise suppression. The active version is approximately three to four times more efficient than passive Tesla coils.
Active Square Tesla Coils
Active square Tesla coils are integrated into printed circuit boards – one coil is located on top, the other on the reverse side. Their operation principle is the same as that of active Tesla coils, providing greater noise suppression capabilities than passive Tesla coils.
Anti-Aerial Resonance Coil Technology
Prevents interference in cables. All cables and cable shields act as antennas for airborne radio frequency interference, which is a serious issue. A passive Tesla cable coil wrapped around the outside of the cable protects the signal from absorbing radio frequency interference. This noise is absorbed by the Tesla coil. As there is voltage in the conductor itself, it is fed in the opposite direction, serving as a counteracting coil, effectively eliminating radio frequency noise.
Casing with Excellent Acoustic Qualities
Aavik designed the casing to minimize the use of aluminum and associated mechanical resonance. Over the years, the company tested various materials and developed an innovative composite material on a natural basis to reduce mechanical impact, particularly hysteresis. The sonic result is clearly audible and reflects another important cornerstone in Aavik's pursuit of the ultimate musical experience.
