Volur is a hybrid construction of 10 drivers, based on Neo's legacy. The pulsating heart of Volur consists of two new 9mm dynamic drivers in an isobaric configuration, providing unprecedented low-frequency capabilities. The high frequencies are delivered by the proprietary tia driver, and the brand new tia waveguide optimizes its efficiency, providing greater tuning control. Six low-frequency and one high-frequency balanced armature drivers complete the construction of Volur. Their implementation has been reworked to maximize space while integrating acoustic tuning functions using 3D printing.

Sound Concept
Isobaric damping of low-frequency drivers reduces low-frequency blurring, lowering the noise level to a darker background between notes and beats, allowing details to shine. This creates a more impactful experience, with precise information on low frequencies revealing the true intentions of the performer and full sound at low volume. The mid-range retains its signature rich quality. The upper mid-range frequencies enhance midrange holography, revealing itself through vocals. The tia waveguide plays the most significant role in improving high-frequency response, increasing clarity and stereo formation.
Housing
The housing remains the same size, while all significant structural changes occur inside. The front panel now features a smoother chamfer transitioning into a matte black aluminum housing. A finishing touch pays homage to Nio: a purple shard of abalone shell, crafted from responsibly sourced New Zealand Paua shell. Volur is capable of reproducing deep bass, making room for the brilliance of the rest of the frequency spectrum. Rich mid-range frequencies emphasize the analog warmth inherent in Nio, while the high frequencies place it among the finest audio products in the world.
True Isobaric Technology
The proprietary cone-magnet isobaric driver configuration consists of two drivers connected by an acoustically inert chamber. One diaphragm is completely sealed, while sound pressure is only created by the other. This complex application leads to improved damping, reduced distortion, doubled power (thanks to two coils and two driver constructions), and increased low-frequency response.
A completely new 9mm dynamic driver with a modified n54 magnet and 25 μm PU / 115°C + 19 μm Ti cone was developed to increase sensitivity. For further sound processing, a high-precision woven acoustic low-frequency filter (originally developed for Fourte Blanc) was used.
Tia Waveguide Technology
The high-frequency direct-emitting tia driver is equipped with a completely new tia waveguide to increase efficiency and overall amplitude of the high-frequency range. To improve this high-frequency response, special diffusive windows were integrated into the front and side parts of the waveguide. The tia waveguide also serves as a mounting mechanism, connecting to the midrange driver housing, ensuring precise driver positioning during manufacturing.
Tia Technology
The special driver and housing construction without acoustic sound tubes provide transparent and realistic sound. The system reduces unwanted resonance and distortion, allowing the high-frequency Tia driver to sound freely in one large sound tube.
Apex Core Technology
The technology aims to relieve listener fatigue by reducing excess air pressure on the ear canal. This ventilation allows musicians and music enthusiasts to use headphones comfortably for longer. Apex comes in three module options for Volur: mX, m15, and m20.
LID Technology
Linear Impedance Design (LID) is a patented scheme that corrects the nonlinear electrical resistance of the group of drivers within Volur. Changing the output impedance of the amplifier source in devices such as smartphones, portable devices, DAC/amplifiers, and DAP modules typically results in changes in their frequency response depending on the increased resistance. Restoring proper interaction with the source and maintaining the desired sound characteristic ensures stable and reliable sound.
