In addition to the traditional electronic filter, which finely adjusts the tonal balance, they introduced the world's first Helmholtz resonator in an IEM.
Combined with the patented Linear Impedance Design (LID) technology, all these innovations are embodied in the brightest design upgrade from 64 Audio since the introduction of Fourté in 2016. Driver:
The magnetic driver features a flat diaphragm with embedded conductors suspended between two sets of magnets, unlike traditional dynamic drivers where a conical diaphragm is actuated by a voice coil. As the entire diaphragm moves uniformly thanks to the flat magnetic field, it can convey detailed information about micro-transitions, usually requiring a special high-frequency driver. By eliminating the voice coil attached to the cone that can lead to uneven movement, we can reliably extract true high-resolution sound throughout the range with this single driver.
Helmholtz Resonators:
To rethink Planar Magnetic technology, 64 Audio combined a small but significant reduction in high-frequency amplitude and attenuation in several very narrow frequency ranges. To effectively control problematic frequencies, they utilized decades of research on Helmholtz resonators - an acoustic device from the mid-19th century. Two micro-cavities, printed on a 3D printer in the Solo sound chamber, work by pumping and releasing air, causing it to vibrate at a specific frequency. By precisely determining the cavity's dimensions and throat, they can tune a very narrow resonant frequency for amplification or reduction.
LID Technology:
Linear Impedance Design (LID) is a patented scheme that compensates for the nonlinear electrical resistance resulting from the operation of the electronic filter in Solo. Changes in the amplifier-source output impedance in devices such as smartphones, cases, DAC/amplifiers, and DAP adapters typically lead to changes in frequency response. LID technology restores the correct interaction with the source, maintaining the assumed sound character and providing stable and reliable performance.
Apex Core Technology:
In addition to its list of innovations, 64Audio introduced the patented pressure-reducing technology Apex Core, taking this design to a new level of playback accuracy and spatial scale. As the Solo acoustic chamber is equipped with built-in Apex Core technology, they provide the same fit and comfort as Duo. OCC copper, consisting of strands with a size of 23 x 25 AWG woven into 8 conductors with pleasant tactile sensations and an impressively low resistance of 0.26 ohms.
