The upgraded version of the affordable Pro-Ject Essential II Phono USB DC turntable is equipped with an improved external DC power source and a synchronous motor control circuit, which reduces interference. The turntable has an MDF platter supported by a steel spindle. The bearing housing is made of bronze, and its bottom is made of Teflon to reduce friction and vibrations. The chassis is also made of MDF, and despite its lightweight, the Pro-Ject Essential II Phono USB DC has good resistance to external mechanical vibrations and resonances. To improve the turntable's vibration isolation, it is mounted on special supports with improved mechanical insulation from the shelf or table surface.
The turntable features an 8.6-inch straight tonearm made of aluminum, supported by a sapphire bearing. The tonearm construction has been improved compared to the previous version of this model, which has positively affected the sound quality. The tonearm is equipped with an OM5e MM-type cartridge, eliminating the need for cartridge compatibility selection. The turntable's exterior finish can be black, red, or white, and the Pro-Ject Essential II Phono USB DC comes with a dust cover.
The special feature of this vinyl turntable model is the built-in preamp-phono stage and a USB ADC. Thanks to this, the Pro-Ject Essential II Phono USB DC can be connected to any integrated amplifiers or AV receivers that do not have specific inputs for MM cartridges. And through the USB connection, the digitized audio signal from the turntable can be transferred to a computer (PC or Mac) to be converted into respective files.
The Pro-Ject Essential II Phono USB DC turntable has two manually switchable rotation speeds and a damped tonearm lift. The device is highly reliable and easy to set up, and when properly executed, it can provide very good sound.
