The NAD PP2e Phono Preamplifier is designed to work with MM and MC cartridges, providing high-quality sound with minimal levels of noise and distortion. The device is crafted using select components and housed in a small metal casing, convenient for placement near your turntable. This model features an external power supply, reducing the device's size and protecting its sensitive circuits from electrical interference.
On the front panel of the NAD PP2e, you will find a power button and a power indicator LED. At the back, there are two pairs of gold-plated RCA jacks for connecting MM or MC turntables, with a small switch to select between the two. This is convenient for vinyl enthusiasts who switch cartridges frequently, eliminating the need to change cables. A pair of RCA jacks are also provided for connecting the PP2e to an amplifier.
This model does not offer customizable input settings as it can be challenging for beginners. Instead, it features fixed impedance and gain values for MM and MC cartridges. The values for MM cartridges are 47 kOhm/200 pF and 34 dB, while for MC cartridges they are 100 Ohms/180 pF and 58 dB. These parameters are suitable for most modern cartridges, and the omission of adjustable settings has allowed for a more cost-effective solution, improving the signal-to-noise ratio by shortening the audio path.
The NAD PP2e Phono Preamplifier is an excellent upgrade for systems previously using built-in preamps. It enhances dynamics, sound detail, and stereo imaging.
