The Neumann KH 80 DSP is an active near-field monitor. This model is compact in size and is designed for use in recording studios, video editing, radio stations, as well as in home environments. The monitor is well suited for music production and mixing, audio playback, and also excels as a reference sound system, as it has a maximally flat frequency response and several functions that allow for optimal sound adjustment to the room conditions.
The device is equipped with two separate Class D amplifiers, providing a maximum output power of 120W for the low-frequency range and 70W for the high-frequency spectrum. Sound reproduction is handled by a 4-inch composite woofer with a long excursion and a magnetic shield, utilizing the Extremely Linear Force Factor (ELFF) technology for the most linear frequency response, as well as a 1-inch tweeter with a fabric dome, loaded onto an elliptical waveguide called Mathematically Modelled Dispersion (MMD), which ensures uniform and wide sound coverage. These drivers are capable of reproducing audio signals in the range of 57Hz to 21kHz with a +/-3dB level. The crossover point is set at 1.8kHz and employs 6th order filters with a cutoff frequency of 48dB per octave. The maximum sound pressure can reach 108.8dB, and the maximum output level can be set to positions of 94, 100, 108, or 114dB. The built-in DSP processor offers Acoustical Control technology with four presets for low mid-range adjustment, allowing for eliminating overly boomy and indistinct sound. The input sensitivity can be adjusted in the range of 0 to -15dB.
Thanks to the Neumann.Control IP network standard, full access to all functions of the KH 80 DSP Studio Monitor is provided, which are not available on the rear panel. Speaker systems can be defined from mono to 3D, aligned for good sound in the room, and then centrally controlled: Setup, Align, Operate.
The Neumann MA 1 monitor alignment system ensures the best sound quality in any room, from home studios to professional facilities. Using an individually calibrated measurement microphone, your acoustic environment is analyzed within a controlled process. Sophisticated calibration algorithms, developed in collaboration with the leading global sound processing institute Fraunhofer IIS, guarantee optimally adapted amplitude and phase correction for precise and reliable monitoring.
