The NDX 2 is a versatile and upgradable network player that truly showcases modern technology. It offers a wide range of features including UPnP, Bluetooth (aptX HD), Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Roon, and vTuner, as well as various multi-room modes, digital and USB inputs, ensuring universal and convenient connectivity for music sources. Special attention was given to the characteristics during the development of the NDX 2 network player. Along with the new Naim streaming platform, we have integrated an enhanced DAC and discrete analog circuits. These and numerous other improvements from its legendary predecessor have allowed the new model - NDX 2 - to deliver an even more vivid and natural sound.
Technology and craftsmanship:
The Burr-Brown PCM1792A digital-to-analog converter is one of the best currently available. Its specifications have been further improved in this device by adding proprietary digital filters and a discrete current-to-voltage converter immediately after the DAC. The NDX 2's streaming section utilizes a proprietary Naim network card with low-voltage differential transmission of digital audio signals. Thanks to its high speed, it supports the decoding of all HD audio formats up to 32-bit/384kHz or DSD128. The new streaming platform allows for the management of audio data streams using its own, rather than an external, DAC clock generator. Before being fed to the DAC, the incoming data is resampled by a 40-bit precision digital signal processor SHARC.
The NDX 2 is equipped with a built-in low-noise power supply featuring a specially designed toroidal transformer and separate windings for the digital and analog sections. If desired, the player can be connected to the XPS DR or 555 PS DR power supply, which will noticeably improve the richness and emotional quality of the sound. During the development of the NDX 2, Naim engineers tested every detail, every mechanical construction, and selected the best components. The result is a network player worthy of carrying the Naim name, with rich, detailed, and engaging sound.
