Perkins Equalizer
To create the Perkins equalizer, Cal Perkins started with the Wien Bridge circuit topology - a highly musical design inspired by respected "British" consoles of the 60s and 70s. Essentially, this design eschews the cutting or boosting of frequencies in favor of a wider and more musical Q filter. After extensive experimentation, Perkins was able to determine capacitor and resistor values that would give the equalizer an additional 6 dB of control (±15 dB) without excessively narrowing the bandwidth of the filters.
Features:
- Ultra-clean sound, low noise level
- 18 Onyx microphone preamps with a wide headroom and up to 60 dB of gain
