The iFi Zen Dac V2 is a digital-to-analog converter that has been improved from its previous version to provide enhanced support for MQA. Unlike before, it now features a full decoder that can detect and decode the MQA stream, allowing for the delivery of original studio-quality sound.
The device has also been upgraded with a 16-core chip for its digital engine, replacing the previous 8-core XMOS chip, which serves as the USB interface.
Built with Burr-Brown chips, the iFi Zen Dac V2 offers a USB 3.0 input and is capable of handling digital signals with parameters of up to 24-bit/384kHz (PCM) and DSD256, including native mode without any intermediate conversion. It also supports the MQA format.
With its analog output, the device can operate in a fixed or variable mode, enabling direct connection to a power amplifier or active speakers, thereby reducing the number of components in the system.
Furthermore, it provides both balanced (on a Pentaconn 4.4mm connector) and unbalanced outputs (RCA connectors). The model is equipped with a built-in headphone amplifier, adding to its versatility. The amplifier utilizes discrete components in a balanced circuitry with symmetrical topology, resulting in superior stereo imaging and a wide dynamic sound range. Additionally, the TrueBass proprietary analog circuitry enhances bass response without affecting other frequency ranges.
