The Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre microphone preamplifier with compressor is based on the design of an earlier model. This eight-channel interface is built on the signature second-generation Scarlett preamps, known for their natural sound.
The preamp offers 8 combined microphone/line inputs, each equipped with a preamp and VCA compressor. Two inputs can be switched to instrument mode and feature DI digital interfaces for connecting guitars/basses. Additionally, each input provides 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. The analog-to-digital converters ensure conversion up to 24-bit/192kHz. The Scarlett OctoPre allows for controlling the dynamics of all input signals with classic "Soft-Knee" compression or "More" compression with doubled compression ratio. The level and compression ratio can be adjusted using the controls, and a wide range of LED indicators on the front panel allows for monitoring. The audio interface offers extensive connectivity options, including 8 line outputs for direct signal output from microphone inputs or additional expansions, as well as two digital optical inputs and outputs. ADAT, BNC i/o for World Clock synchronization is also available. This allows even the most demanding performer's needs to be met. The internal generator provides +/- 20PPM jitter performance, and the standard JetPLL jitter elimination technology is used for external generators.
