Compact, stylish, and captivating, the Diablo Utopia EVO acoustic system embodies Focal's traditions in producing bookshelf speakers. Inspired in many ways by the Grande Utopia EM system, it offers an entirely new quality of bass reproduction, thanks to the 165mm driver with the patented Power Flower system and its phase inverter coordinated with it.
Features:
- Beryllium IAL2 tweeter with reverse dome in the high-frequency section
- Power Flower magnetic system for the woofer
- Frequency range: 44 Hz - 40 kHz
- Tweeter: 1 x 27 mm, Woofer: 1 x 165 mm
- Sensitivity: 89 dB
- Power: 25 - 200 W
Mounted on standard floor stands, the Diablo Utopia III EVO system mesmerizes with its ability to reproduce mid and high frequencies, rich bass, and unprecedented power.
The low and mid frequency range is reproduced by Focal's traditional woofer with an astonishingly light yet rigid 165mm driver consisting of two layers of fiberglass with syntactic foam sandwiched and attached to a half-roll suspension. Another distinctive feature of the woofer is its Power Flower magnetic system. Indeed, its shape resembles a six-petal magnet flower. This design not only increases power but also better focuses the magnetic field. Instead of a ring magnet, the basket is reinforced with six separate neodymium elements, creating a uniform and very powerful field.
The high-frequency section includes the famous IAL-2 tweeter with a beryllium inverted dome. The magnetic system is shaped like a Laval reactive nozzle, and the volume behind it acts as a Helmholtz resonator tuned to the tweeter's resonance frequency.
The cabinet itself is designed using the same Gamma technique as other Utopia models – it takes into account the distribution of vibrations and distributes them along the curved walls' cross-section so that their impact on sound is minimal. The cabinet is made of MDF panels, some of which are five centimeters thick in certain areas. At the bottom of the front panel, there is a slotted port.
