The versatile FiiO M17 hybrid combines the functions of a portable and desktop Hi-Res audio player. Each channel is equipped with an ES9038PRO DAC, which has 8 parallel outputs and guarantees high-resolution, low-distortion sound. The player features two upgraded THX AAA-788 amplifier modules with low output impedance, providing increased power of 3W per channel, a 225% increase compared to the base chips. This amplifier can handle virtually any headphones.
The player can be powered by the built-in battery, which lasts over 10 hours when connected unbalanced, or by an external adapter providing 11.5V, 35% higher than the battery voltage. The battery is not used when the adapter is connected, extending its lifespan.
There are four levels of amplification to choose from, including a special mode for full-size headphones with 13dB amplification when powered by the battery and 16dB amplification when powered by an external DC source on the balanced output.
The FiiO M17 utilizes heat dissipation technology in an "H" type configuration, liquid cooling technology VC, an aluminum frame for heat dissipation, and a stand with a fan to which the player is attached.
The circuitry includes a low-noise linear LDO voltage regulator LT3045, a high-capacity super capacitor DMF for power supply, a femtosecond quartz generator NDK, a premium-class TI OPA2211 operational amplifier commonly used in stationary equipment, and other high-quality components.
The model runs on Android 10 with the ability to install third-party apps, powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, equipped with 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi and a flagship Bluetooth chip QCC5124 supporting SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX-LL, aptX-HD, aptX-Adaptive, and LDAC codecs (reception) and SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX-HD, and LDAC codecs (transmission). The digital and analog circuits are placed on separate gold-plated PCBs with copper shielding, and the optimized modular structure allows efficient placement of components inside the case.
The player features a 5.99" display and a 7th-generation futuristic design with adjustable 7-color RGB backlighting. The volume can be adjusted using both an analog potentiometer and duplicate buttons.
The player has four headphone outputs: a 3.5mm output (combined with the line output), a 6.3mm output, and balanced outputs of 4.4mm (combined with the balanced line output) and 2.5mm. It also includes a USB-C port (3.0) with an XMOS XUF208 chip (supporting PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512) for file loading, battery charging, and functioning as a USB DAC, USB output, and USB-OTG. It has a coaxial input/output, a microSD card slot, and a USB-C Host port (2.0) capable of functioning as a USB audio output and USB-OTG, but not supporting battery charging or connection to a computer.
