Apogee Duet 3
The Apogee Duet 3 is a desktop USB-C audio interface with 2 inputs and 4 outputs. It can work with both Windows and Mac OS, connecting to your computer via USB-C. The cable provides access to two microphone/line/instrument inputs (with up to +60 dB gain available through the microphone preamps), as well as outputs for stereo monitors and headphones on the front panel. The headphone jack allows you to monitor on the go, as the Duet 3 is bus-powered via USB.
The main rotary encoder remains and now features a bright purple backlight, allowing you to set monitor and headphone levels, as well as adjust the preamp. The Duet 3 combines next-generation Apogee features and functions with a beautifully low-profile design. It also includes built-in hardware DSP for zero-latency recording with FX. The Duet 3 is perfect for music creation, voice recording, streaming, and even gaming. Use it with your Mac or Windows in the studio or on the go.
One of the most important components for high-quality recording is the preamp, and the preamps in the Apogee Duet 3 are top-notch. With up to 65 dB of gain and +48V phantom power, you can cleanly and accurately capture any sound source, even with the most demanding microphones. Apogee reduces noise and distortion even when increasing gain. The Symphony ECS channel strip plugin band, developed by legendary mixer Bob Clearmountain (sold separately), includes EQ, compression, and saturation controls to create an optimal combination of channel effects for tracking vocals or acoustic instruments.
Choose from a variety of Clearmountain's handcrafted presets and record with zero latency using the built-in hardware DSP of the Duet. Other Apogee FX and FX Rack plugins, created by the same team that develops all Apogee hardware and software products, provide superior sound quality and full bandwidth (from 44.1 to 192 kHz) for all DAWs on your Mac. From visually modern interfaces that allow you to precisely shape and define sound, to carefully modeled vintage equipment, Apogee plugins will quickly find their place in your everyday recording toolkit.
Along with the Apogee Duet 3, the company announced the optional Duet Dock, which allows you to place the interface at a convenient angle on your desk. It also mirrors all XLR, TRS, and USB connections of the interface, so you can easily disconnect. You can place the interface in the docking station, which can be permanently connected to your computer, speakers, and other equipment. If you want to take the Duet on the go, simply remove it from the docking station and take the cable.
The Apogee Duet 3 includes the signature Apogee Control 2 software, which gives you full access to all the features and capabilities of the Duet, including the Symphony ECS Channel Strip FX, running on the Duet's hardware DSP. Apogee Control 2 is used for all previous generation Apogee products and will allow Apogee support service and engineers to quickly respond to future MacOS and Windows updates, helping ensure Duet 3 compatibility on your workstation.
