Three-way Focal Kanta №2 Floor-standing Loudspeaker
The three-way Focal Kanta №2 speaker takes second place among the floor-standing models in the Kanta series. It differs from the series flagship in more modest dimensions and smaller bass drivers.
The 27mm tweeter features a concave dome covered in lightweight and durable beryllium material. Technologies like Infinite Acoustic Loading and Infinite Horn Loading help absorb sound waves emitted from the back of the dome membrane, reducing resonance frequency and minimizing distortion of the high-frequency driver, providing detailed and precise sound.
The 165mm midrange driver is equipped with a lightweight composite diffuser, including a main layer of flax fibers sandwiched between two layers of fiberglass. This construction delivers high rigidity and excellent damping at low mass. The driver suspension uses TMD technology, which involves a resonance vibrational attenuator to eliminate unwanted resonances. The midrange driver also utilizes a "Neutral Inductance Circuit" (NIC) to stabilize the magnetic field surrounding the voice coil. The same NIC technology is used in the pair of 165mm bass drivers with similar diffusers.
The Focal Kanta №2 cabinet is made of molded multi-layer plywood, with the front panel cast from HDP polymer, 15% stiffer and 70% denser than traditional MDF. This high-density polymer is 25% more effective than MDF in terms of damping. The smooth geometry of the front panel minimizes diffraction. Power Flow technology is employed to eliminate dynamic compression, with two phase inverter ports - one integrated in the front and the other in the rear of the cabinet. The upper part of the front panel has a tilt (Focus Time technology) to ensure sound waves from all drivers reach the listening point with minimal time dispersion. The base of the speaker is made of Zamac, a zinc alloy with aluminum, magnesium, and copper additives, and includes spikes with base plates. The upper panel of the speaker is made of glass, with grilles attached magnetically to protect the drivers.
The Focal Kanta №2 model is capable of filling rooms ranging from 30 to 60 square meters. The finish options for the cabinet include glossy lacquer, natural veneer, and the front panel is available in yellow and blue. This wide range of finish options allows for perfect harmony with any interior design.
