Antelope Audio introduces the first studio monitors of their own design - the Antelope Atlas i8. This model is a three-way monitor with a range of additional features: a class D amplifier with low noise and high power, powering two woofers. The 18mm thick enclosure with additional reinforcement prevents any unwanted resonant frequencies.
Features:
- Class D amplifier;
- Frequency range: 35 - 20,000 Hz;
- Vertical and horizontal orientation;
- 18mm enclosure with additional reinforcement;
- Color display for information;
- Remote control panel via USB software;
- Connectors: analog XLR/TRS; digital AES/EBU;
- Driver sizes: 2x8" woofers, 5.5" midrange, 1.5" coaxial tweeter;
- Amplifier power: 400W (200W woofers; 100W midrange; 100W tweeter).
The Antelope Audio Atlas i8 is a high-class studio monitor that combines Antelope Audio's advanced interface production technologies with meticulous acoustic design to ensure unmatched sound accuracy in any studio environment. The monitors also boast a class D amplifier with a total power of 400W (specially designed for the Atlas i8) with low distortion levels.
Two 8-inch woofers provide accurate bass with minimal distortion even at high sound pressure levels. The isobaric design allows for a smaller enclosure size while maintaining optimal performance. It is noted that this design maintains the overall size of the monitor while providing an effective frequency range. In turn, the midrange and tweeters are reproduced using a coaxial driver, allowing the monitor to be positioned horizontally or vertically without risking any dropout in the high-frequency range.
Inside the Antelope Audio Atlas i8 is a specially designed class D amplifier with low distortion. The total power of the model is 400W, with 200W dedicated to the low-frequency section, 100W to the midrange, and another 100W to the high frequencies. According to the specifications, the Atlas i8 reproduces frequencies in the range of 35 Hz to 20 kHz, with a maximum sound pressure level of 117 dB. An analog combined XLR/TRS connector and digital AES/EBU ports are provided for connecting the monitor. The Atlas i8 is also equipped with a USB port for connecting to a computer.
Signature Frequency Response Alignment Technology
To achieve a smooth and time-aligned frequency response, a patented digital processing system is developed, working inside FPGA chips with FIR and IIR filters, providing deep and focused stereo imaging, accurate transient processes, and fatigue-free studio sessions. The Atlas i8 is calibrated during production and is meticulously tested to ensure optimal performance.
The first Antelope monitor speaker provides accurate sound reproduction with extended low frequencies and high sound pressure levels, while maintaining minimal distortion and noise. The special digital processing system enhances characteristics, providing a neutral frequency response and linear phase. The presence of DSP also unlocks several features that enhance everyday work in the studio.
