Three-way flagship Focal Sopra No3 floorstanding speaker represents the highest model in the pre-top range of Sopra series and, according to Focal, delivers a rich, harmonically saturated sound with excellent dynamics and a detailed soundstage.
Features:
- Phase-inverted enclosure type, with the port located at the bottom of the cabinet;
- Upper and lower parts of the cabinet made of MDF, upper panel finished with glass;
- 27mm tweeter with an inverted beryllium dome, placed in a special intermediate module, IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) technology, metal protective grille;
- 165mm midrange driver with a three-layer W-cone, TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) and NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) technologies, positioned in a separate chamber;
- 2 x 210mm woofers with three-layer W-cone, NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) technology;
- Recommended amplifier power from 40 to 400 Watts per channel;
- Crossover frequencies 250 Hz/2200 Hz;
- Input terminals 2 screw terminals;
- Grilles with magnetic attachments.
The speaker is equipped with two 210mm woofers, guaranteeing deep, excellently articulated bass. Each driver features a W-cone, ensuring high rigidity, low mass, and excellent internal damping. The woofers use NIC technology to optimize the magnetic field and improve dynamics. The 165mm midrange driver, located at the top of the cabinet and placed in a separate internal chamber, also utilizes NIC technology and a similar W-cone. TMD technology is used in the suspension to eliminate unwanted resonances.
The 27mm tweeter with a rigid, lightweight curved beryllium dome is housed in a separate module made of durable thermally-molded polyurethane. IHL technology includes a rear horn-shaped chamber that absorbs waves emitted by the rear of the dome, resulting in transparent and dynamic high frequencies. The tweeter is protected by a metal grille.
The module not only separates the midrange and woofers sections but also provides a precisely calculated tilt to the upper part of the cabinet. The phase inverter is located at the bottom of the cabinet, and the base is made of 19mm tempered glass with integrated adjustable stainless steel spikes. The front panel with a sandwich structure ensures excellent damping. Non-parallel sides of the speaker eliminate internal standing waves, aided by Helmholtz resonators at the bottom of the cabinet. Connection is done through a pair of screw terminals.
The flagship Focal Sopra No3 can fill rooms up to 80 sqm and is available in natural wood veneer or gloss lacquer in various finishes, including orange.
