The T4P or P-mount system was patented specifically for mass-produced turntables in 1979. It does not require needle position adjustment, as the cartridge head is simply inserted into the tonearm, locked in place, and usually secured with a single side screw. This system was used by all major manufacturers of affordable turntables at that time, such as Sony, Technics, Denon, Kenwood, etc. It is also used in mini-system turntables. T4P cartridge heads have standardized parameters, meaning they do not require adjustment of their position in the tonearm, balancing, or anti-skating compensation. They can only be used (without adapters) in P-mount tonearms.
